This picture by an American artist was exhibited in the department of Fine Arts for the United States at the World's Columbian Exposition in 1893.

The older girl is holding the pan on her lap and teaching the younger ones how to blow bubbles. The youngest is patiently waiting her turn. She seems to think there is something magical about being able to make something out of nothing. She watches as the bubbles rise, change color, and finally burst and disappear.

We know the weather is mild because the window is open and the bubbles can drift out and float upward with the breeze.

Look at the enlarged version. Use your Where do you see a reflection of the oldest girl? Notice her vest. What would we use in our times today to close a vest?
